Kindra Meyer Celebrates Feminism!
New York City Art Director, Kindra Meyer, is celebrating feminism during Hillary Clinton's victories over Senator Sanders last night. Winning four out of six states (CA, NM, SD, and NJ) Clinton has earned far more than the needed delegates to be the Democratic nominee in 2016. This is a historic moment for women, as Clinton is the first female to earn the nomination, and potentially become the first female President of the United States.
"It happened in my lifetime!" Kindra is so thankful, and so impressed. "All my years of working in an industry role of 97% men. For dealing with mansplaining and manterruption and stolen ideas and sexual harassment and having to "play the game" and be "one of the boys" to survive. All my years of being a high femme woman having to constantly stand up to men who try to slut shame and take me down. The rapes, the physical and sexual assaults, the street harassment, the broken relationships from men who felt intimidated and tried to suppress me, the fear so many men have shown for my power, having to "tone down" to make them comfortable.
It gives me hope that maybe, generations from now, women won't have to fight so hard to be exactly who they want to be in the world. That we won't be silenced and laughed at and seen simply as property or pieces of meat. This is the most radical thing I have witnessed in my lifetime, and I can't wait to scream out the words, "Madame President!!!!"
