DNC Viewing Party at Brooklyn's Atelier Roquette
Tucked away in the heart of Red Hook, a neighborhood in Brooklyn that I called home for three years, stands a gorgeous and inspiring space called Atelier Roquette. The creators behind this event space, Monica and Leisah, also own and run Red Hook's beloved Homemade, where they do the cooking and invite you to dine in their garden. As a previous resident of Red Hook, I have always admired this loving couple, and their ability to create and move me to be inspired by food. It seemed to me that whatever these woman touched turned into art.
Since this election, I have had the happy privilege of rekindling my relationship with Monica and Leisah. It was through Facebook that I learned we share a great love for Hillary and we also wanted to be involved. This meant attending rallies, having conversations, and hosting meet ups. In this case, Monica and Leisah invited Hillary supporters to join them at Atelier Roquette in watching the final evening of the Democratic National Convention. Unfortunately Leisah was not in town for this event, but Monica and her staff did an amazing job with a beautifully prepared snack and Hillary cocktail menu, they lit candles to create a memorable ambiance, they even executed a Costco trip in order to purchase two beautiful TV's. What's a viewing party without TV's, right?
From Katy Perry's performance, to Chelsea's loving words, to Bill Clinton and his new found love for balloons, this evening was incredible. Thank you, Atelier Roquette for opening your doors to the Hillary supporter community.
