Ben Ryan is a Babe For Hillary in New York City
We asked New York City resident Ben Ryan, "What has been your favorite Hillary event you have attended so far? And why was this event special to you?"
"What has been most exciting for me throughout my participation in many Hillary events, phone banks and canvassing days is having been there for a pair of special bookends of the campaign.
I was there on Roosevelt Island last summer when she kicked off her campaign. I was moved by her detailed attention to the struggles of the middle class, her description of the Democratic ethos of giving people a helping hand. Not just a simple "hand out" as Republicans derisively call such assistance.
Then I got to be there at the victory party the night of Hillary's triumphant victory in New York State. I had been working my tail off during the time leading up to the primary, and had spent most of that day "barking" up the primary in the subway station in Columbus Circle. So to be in the room with so much love for Hillary and excitement for her candidacy was awesome. I was really moved by her description of the young man who was in isolation in Rikers and went on to found his own ice cream shop, and the young woman whose mother was killed in Sandy Hook and who is campaigning for gun control.
Hillary doesn't get credit for being a reformer on issues important to progressives. I know that she is."
